The elders in the family would go to the temples and spend time listening to the devotional songs and Krishna bhajans. Sat Sangs are also held. A sense of spiritual enrichment is felt, and everybody is keen to spread the good vibes. Recitation of holy books like Bhagavata Purana and Bhagavad Gita is done. Krishna Janmashtami thrills no one like the youngsters. Dahi handi is where a human pyramid is made, and boys climb on each other to break matki. The team sport is a major spectacle, and it is the most awaited event for young boys and girls. Prior to all the celebrations, Ratri Jagran (night vigil) is done by the family. It is such an amazing time where all the family members, relatives, and close ones come together and wait for midnight to arrive. Many people keep fast as well. With bated breath, young and old, both wait for the time when Lord Krishna was born. Many devotional songs are sung together, reminding the great story that stirs the emotions.
