When the hit team of Silsila and Chandni was repeated for Yash Chopra's Lamhe, expectations were sky-high from Shiv-Hari. And they did not disappoint. Lamhe went on to become a musical blockbuster and the songs helped the film draw a big initial audience. Unfortunately, the bold theme did not find much acceptance and the film was rejected by the audience. Today more than two decades after release, the film has achieved cult status, and is regarded by many as Yash Chopra, Anil Kapoor, Sridevi and Anupam Kher's best work. The songs remain as popular as ever and the freshness in melody appeals even to those who were not born when the film was released. Interestingly the hook tune of Lamhe's Kabhi Main Kahoon was a part of the background score in Chandni.
