Born Roma Dasgupta, this legendary actress adopted the screen name Suchitra Sen. Her work in Bengali cinema, especially in the films with Uttam Kumar, are widely considered some of the finest in Indian cinema. Sen was the first Bengali actress to receive an award at an international film festival. At the 1963 Moscow International Film Festival, she won the Silver Prize for Saat Paake Bandha. In 2012, Sen was conferred with West Bengal's highest Award Banga Bibhushan.
