Best of Old Hindi Songs | Golden Collection - Vol. 4 | Audio Jukebox

Classical music has in its own unique way played quite a major role in some of the biggest musical hits in Bollywood. It was the legendary Yash Chopra who convinced Pandit Shiv Kumar Sharma and Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia to come together for his dream project Silsila. While every song turned out to be a musical gem, Yeh Kahan Aa Gaye Hum holds a special place as it blended Bachchan's baritone voice with Lata Mangeshkar's vocals. Rumour has it that the two were not on the best of terms back then, so their bits were recorded separately. Silsila's music was also special as Javed Akhtar made his debut as lyricist with this film. Another of Javed Akhtar's early gems was Tumko Dekha from Saath Saath, which was among Ghazal supremo Jagjit Singh's most popular works in Hindi cinema. Umrao Jaan was another landmark soundtrack which helped bridge the gap between classical and mainstream music. Asha Bhosle was at her absolute best and the film earned both Rekha and the singer many awards.
