Rajesh Roshan Lal Nagrath is a famous Bollywood music director and composer, having composed some of the evergreen melodies like Julie and Kaho Na Pyaar Hai that people love tapping to even today. Born on the 24th of May 1955 to the Hindi film composer Roshan Lal Nagrath and Ira Roshan, having both parents as music composers, Rajesh Roshan’s interest in music piqued from a young age. He got his first break from the filmmaker Mehmood with his score in Kunwara Baap (1974). Two years later his score Julie received tremendous popularity shooting Rajesh Roshan to fame. The same score of Julie won him his first-ever Filmfare Award for Best Music Director beating R. D Burman’s Sholey and Khel Khel Mein.

With a career spanning over five decades, Rajesh Roshan is still composing scores for numerous films adapting himself to the trend and the time. After Julie (1995), he went on to give three back-to-back hits with Des Pardes, Man Pasand (1980), and Lootmaar (1980). He has worked with some of the best musical talents in the country back then and even now. He went on to compose melodies and tunes, combing Kishore Kumar’s voice in films. Some of his works are  Mama Bhanja (1997), Doosra Aadmi (1997), Muqqadar (1978), Swami, Priyatama (1977), Do Aur Do Paanch (1980), Swarg Narak (1978), Inkar (1977), Khatta Meetha (1977), Jaag Utha Insaan (1984), Ek Aur Sikandar (1986), Khudgarz (1987), Khoon Bhari Maang (1988), Jaisi Karni Waisi Bharni (1989), King Uncle (1993), Lawaaris (1999), Koi Mil Gaya (2003), Krish (2006)amongst others. In the 90s, he worked on films like Karan Arjun (1995), Papa Kehte Hain (1996), Koyla (1997), Daag (1999), Kya Kehna (2000), and one of his most popular scores of all time Kaho Na Pyaar Hai (2000).

Rajesh Roshan is also the first person who made Amitabh Bachchan, Bollywood’s biggest legend, sing. Even though he generally keeps to their in-house production movies, Rajesh Roshan has given Bollywood some of its all-time favorite hits, like Mungda Mungda on Helen, which is still a major Bollywood anthem. Rajesh Roshan had won two Filmfare Awards for Best Music Director for Julie and Kaho Na Pyaar Hai, he is also the two times winner of the Indian Screen Awards for Karan Arjun as the Best Music Director, the Zee Cine Awards for Best Music Director, and he has won the International Film Academy Awards for Best Music Director for his score in the 2000 popular hit Kaho Na Pyaar Hai.

He has composed over 800+ songs in his five-decade-long and still running career.
