Biography

This extremely talented musician was born completely blind. When his father came to know of this right after his birth he bought him a harmonium and decided that the young Ravindra was best off pursuing a career where eyesight was not essential. This was probably the best decision his father could have taken.

Since it was decided from his childhood that Ravindra would take up music as a profession

his training was also very thorough. He studied under quite a few teachers and all their styles have contributed to Ravindra�s unique style. Master Ghamandilal Jain taught Ravindra how to compose music. Pandit Janardhan Sharma taught Ravindra singing and the use of instruments and Pandit Nathuram Sharma was the one who was his main guiding force.

After his training Ravindra left Aligarh for Calcutta to try his luck and make a career. It was a time of trials and tribulations as Ravindra tried his hand at several aspects of the field of music some with success and some without.

Ravindra�s persistence paid off when he recorded his first film song in 1972 with leading singer Mohammed Rafi. Ravindra Jain�s film career took off after the release of Kaanch Aur Heera in 1972 and there was no looking back. This was his first release. Jain composed chart topping music for Rajshri Productions� Saudagar in 1973.

Ravindra Jain is not only a talented musician himself he also has a keen ear for recognizing talent. It is a well-known fact that Ravindra Jain promoted and discovered very well known names in Hindi film music like Yesudas Jaspal Singh Aarti Mukherjee and Suresh Wadkar.

Ravindra Jain has been the recipient of many honours and awards in his career and this 63-year old music director continues to make waves as one can tell from his recent release Vivah which has some melodious tracks.
