Khela

Almost ready for release, Khela is the new film directed by Bengal’s talented Rituparno Ghosh (best known for his Chokher Bali). His films are known for their unusual storylines, and this one is no exception. Revolving around a film unit shooting a film, this is a story of a dedicated filmmaker whose commitment to perfection leads him into dangerous waters, with the police on his trail. The protagonist is played by Bengal’s leading star, Prosenjit. Manisha Koirala and Raima Sen are the two women in his life. A mischievous young lad is the pivot of the film, played by Akashneel Dutt Mukherjee.

KHELA

The music video, slated for release on 14 June, contains narration by the Director Rituparno himself, as well as music by 21 Grams. Talking about the film Rituparno says:

‘My film Khela is a game of hide and seek with my lost childhood . . . it has my father and mother in it, my grandfather, my pet dog, my school, my school holidays, Aban Thakur - and along with all that, there is the woman in the halud sari . . . the woman I would see in my mind’s eye when I was a boy . . . we had this old EP record . . . and every time it played, with Sumitra Sen’s voice singing Rabi Thakur’s song ‘Chhaya ghanaichhe bone bone’ . . . I would see a woman in a halud sari, with her face turned to the forest, singing . . .’
